Our Story
Welcome to Fairest Isle Festival, a new vibrant three-day celebration of early music on the Isle of Wight. In May 2024, we invite you to immerse yourself in the enchanting melodies of the 16th to 18th centuries, brought to life by a stellar cast of world-class artists against the backdrop of the Island's rich history.
Fairest Isle Festival is not just a series of concerts; it's a journey through time, delivered through performances, singing workshops, and educational initiatives in local schools.
Our mission is to bridge the gap between the past and present, creating opportunities for both seasoned enthusiasts and curious newcomers to experience the magic of historically informed early music. In a landscape where cultural access is often hindered by cost and infrastructure, the Festival invites visitors and islanders to partake in workshops and performances alongside renowned musicians. From immersive three-day workshops to collaborative "Come and Sing" sessions, we want to encourage participants to explore their vocal talents and dive into the rich tapestry of musical heritage.
In partnership with the Isle of Wight Music Hub, Fairest Isle Festival extends its impact beyond the concert hall, engaging with local schools through masterclasses and workshops as part of their Local Plan for Music Education. By nurturing the next generation of musicians and educators, we contribute to the cultural legacy of the Isle of Wight, reinforcing its status as a beacon of artistic innovation and expression.
